The Botnar Institute for Musculoskeletal Sciences is the largest research centre investigating the causes, pathways and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in Europe. It forms part of the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford, an internationally recognised institute where scientists work alongside clinicians to enhance translational research. The centre’s multidisciplinary team is composedof around 350 staff and postgraduatestudents, who have access to state- of-the-art facilities – from expansive laboratories to GMP-compliant clean rooms – that help them make meaningful advances in therapies to transform the lives of patients. 

Many of the research groups hosted by the Roslin Institute, a globally renowned animal sciences research organisation that aims to promote sustainable agriculture, disease control and animal and human health,

rely on biological samples for their various cutting-edge projects, and the campus also boasts extensive archives of samples dating back up to 30 years, which serve as a valuable resource for numerous studies. These important biological materials must be stored at low or ultra-low temperatures (ULT) around the clock to preserve their viability, and the Roslin Institute has been using a wide range of cold chain storage solutions from Haier Biomedical for around 10 years to safeguard its precious research specimens, including [-80 °C], [-40 °C] and Under-counter ULT freezers.

Since last year, Haier Biomedical worked in conjunction with laboratory equipment suppliers in many locations across Italy to provide ULT freezers to assist with COVID-19 vaccine storage and vaccination programs.
