We are small but fast-growing business based in Sunbury and are looking to recruit an individual to support our installed base of specialist cold storage equipment across the UK.

Job purpose outline:

As a field service engineer you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing life science refrigeration units and monitoring systems. You will be covering the whole of the UK, but the majority of your work will be in the South/Midland areas. An NVQ level 2/3 in refrigeration and air conditioning and F-Gas handling certification are required.

In addition to planned calls, you will attend reactive calls. You will also be expected to promote the full portfolio of products and service offerings when attending customer sites. We encourage input and any recommendations to the service department on changes for cost savings and performance improvements.

Key tasks:

  • Provide service to external or internal customer’s by giving advice via the telephone and/or by visiting the equipment on site
  • Carry out regular maintenance schedules for each piece of equipment and maintain spares stock
  • Perform calibrations
  • Deal with emergency breakdowns as they occur
  • Remove equipment to workshop as appropriate, where the detailed diagnostics and investigation can be more readily achieved, dismantling equipment when necessary and replacing faulty parts
  • Work under pressure to get equipment operational in a timely manner
  • Provide refrigeration expertise to the client
  • Working away from home for short periods
  • Complete all necessary paperwork – calibration certificates, services reports, IQ,OQ, PQ
  • Provide recommendations to the service manager on changes for cost savings and performance improvements

  • A thorough understanding of the relevant technology
  • Good practice skills and a common-sense approach
  • Willingness to work long or unsociable hours when required
  • The tact and diplomacy required to deal with customers in a stressful situation and provide confident assurance
  • Self-confidence and ability to work independently or as a member of a team
  • Staying up to date with relevant qualifications needed to carry out the work

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 1 year refrigeration is required
  • NVQ level 2/3 in refrigeration and air conditioning
  • F-Gas handling certification
  • Clean driving license
